PS4A Writer’s GOTY | Persona 4 Golden

Hey,

I've published an article on PS4Attitude about my game of the year. If anybody follows my writings on PS4A then you'll already know this and my love for Persona 4, haha.

"I found the cast to be hugely likeable, funny and relatable, with Social Links allowing you to build a strong relationship with each character and help them with their personal problems. Although I felt this way quite early on in the game, by the end of it, I felt very strongly attached to each character and, no matter which ending I received, I felt very bittersweet about having to say goodbye to them. So much so that I started the game again and got just as glued to it, if not more, than I had the first time. And to be clear, I got the True Ending each time, because I can’t accept it any other way!"

You can read the rest by clicking here.

Also, as this will be my last post of 2013, I wish you all a happy new year and hope that you all enjoy and have good luck in 2014. :)

Thanks and I hope you enjoy reading!

Mitch.

Tiny Brains PS4 review

Hey,

I recently reviewed Tiny Brains for PS4Attitude, an excerpt can be read below.

"Tiny Brains is a puzzle game revolving around four rather cute lab animals as they carry out tests and make their bid for freedom. So, is developer Spearhead Games’ creation a success, or is it ultimately a failed experiment?

The story is simple – you’re a lab animal and are forced to do tests for your creator, and of course, things go topsy-turvy very quickly. It’s pretty generic stuff, and probably won’t captivate you, but as Tiny Brains is very family-orientated, it’s just enough to entertain children and humour adults."

OMG HD Zombies! PS Vita Review

Hey,

I published a review for OMG HD Zombies! on PS4Attitude a few weeks ago.

"OMG HD Zombies! is the HD version of  PSP mini OMG-Z and, with this review, we look into whether it was worth breathing new life into it or if it would have been better off staying dead.

Although there is a story revolving around an experiment gone awry and your character trying to survive the recently-revived dead, it’s fairly generic and only serves to loosely string the levels together. The story itself is told in comic form which suits it well, with its crisp and vivid images that won’t spare you the brutality and gruesomeness of a zombie apocalypse."

Hi,

Recently I interviewed Curve Studios, the studio behind Vita and PS3 ports of Lone Survivor, Thomas Was Alone, Stealth Inc and others, to discuss what it's like to work with Sony and what they plan to do in future.

This, alongside the interview with the lovely Jasper Byrne, the excellent mind behind Lone Survivor, was part of my first professional interview and I had a good time doing it and wish both parties the best of luck in their future endeavors.

Atlus announces multiple Persona games

Hey!

So, earlier today Atlus announced 3 Persona games and that one will be making its way from arcades to consoles. I'm unbelievably excited as Persona 4: Golden is my all-time favourite game.

I covered news for 3 of the games on PS3Attitude and PS4Attitude, obviously not covering the 3DS game as I write for a Sony-centric website.

Jasper Byrne - The definitive version of Lone Survivor?

Hi,

On behalf of PS4Attitude I had an interview with Jasper Byrne, the man behind indie-hit Lone Survivor, about the creation of the game and his relationship with publisher Curve Studios.

An exerpt can be read below.

"As horror games are designed to scare the players, we were curious as to whether or not Jasper had ever been scared by his own creation. Although he was familiar with the entire game, due to the amount of content packed into it Jasper had forgotten some things that managed to catch him off-guard at a later date. The game managed to make me pause the game multiple times to gather my bearings, so I can’t even imagine how it must’ve been to work on in the early hours of the morning. Jasper hopefully worked with the light on!"

Read the entire interview here: http://ps4attitude.com/interview/2013/10/curve-studios-jasper-byrne-definitive-version-lone-survivor-hands-interview

Expect a Curve Studios interview soon!

Hope you enjoy reading,

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 – The PS3 Attitude Review

Hi,

I wrote a review for the latest game based on one of my favourite animes for PS3 Attitude.

"One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 follows Luffy and co. on an original adventure to The New World, and just like the anime, it’s over-the-top frantic fun with gorgeous animation.

Be prepared for some achey thumbs as we find out whether Pirate Warriors 2 is the game One Piece fans wanted."
Enjoy,
Mitch.

Tales of Xillia – The PS3 Attitude Review

Hi,

I wrote a review on Tales of Xillia for PS3Attitude, read on to see what I thought!

"With the latest game in the Tales Of series, we follow Milla and Jude on their journey to restore mana back to the world.

Boasting upgraded graphics, a more in-depth combat system, and series character designers Kosuke Fujishima and Mutsumi Inomata both working together for the first time on a single game, we look in to whether or not Xillia is the ultimate Tales Of title."

Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark – The PS3 Attitude Review

Hi,

My review for Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is now available to read on PS3Attitude. :)

"Stealth Inc revolves around clones participating in tests for a manufacturer. It’s either complete the tests or be destroyed by turrets, lasers, robots and more.

You might be thinking, ‘Wow, sounds a bit like Portal!’ and while that’s true to a certain extent, it’s a bit more sadistic than any tests created by GlaDOS and Aperture. It may tickle your funny bone, but it may also crush it."

Deadly Premonition Review

Hi,

I finally had the pleasure to play this brilliant cult classic, read on to see what I thought.

"I take a look in the coffee to see if Deadly Premonition is a cult classic for the right reasons. Aren’t you excited, Zach?

Story

Deadly Premonition is set in the small countryside town of Greenvale which has been disturbed by a recent murder. FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan (who likes to be called York, please) is sent to investigate.

Along with burly Sheriff George and charming Deputy Sheriff Emily, York aims to uncover this latest brutal murder – one of many in an on-going case - which he wishes to solve once and for all.

The plot is wholly engrossing, a great adventure which keeps you guessing with many twists and turns along the way. The characters help by being instantly intriguing and lovable – even if they’re lovable to hate. York is extremely quirky, adding a consistent humourous layer to the story as he talks to himself during drives and makes odd remarks."

Hi,

I'm a huge Final Fantasy (and Lightning) fan and so this news excites me.

"The latest Lightning Returns trailer, dubbed 13 Days, focuses mostly on outfits but also teases more of the story.

Along with all-new original costumes will be some costumes from FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, altered to fit Lightning (also a bit of fan-service!)"

Terraria - The PS3Attitude Review

Hi,

I wrote this review for PS3Attitude and there's also a competition on the site to win a free copy of the game!

"Terraria is a big game with a simple concept – survive. This is done via creating shelter, collecting materials and fighting off monsters who are more than ready to attack you the moment you’re off-guard. Although many people compare Terraria to Minecraft, and the resemblance is easy to notice, does it stand on its own two feet?"

I hope you enjoy reading the review,
Mitch.

Persona 4 Arena Review

Hi,

I wrote this review for PS3Attitude and hope you enjoy reading it!

"Persona 4 Arena sees characters from Persona 4 and 3 return in a crossover fighting title to solve the case of the returning Midnight Channel, the place where the events of Persona 4 took place. With the return of the Investigation Team from P4, several characters from P3 and Arc System Works’ ability to make an in-depth and immersive fighter, can P4 Arena compete with the best of its genre?"

Quantic Dream hope that that the box art for BEYOND: Two Souls will help it stand out amongst other titles, but what do you think?

It’s PS3 exclusive and most likely Quantic Dream’s swan song before they begin developing a game for the PS4."

Hi,

My second review for Green Man Gaming - Borderlands 2 - is now ready to read!

Has Borderlands 2 managed to re-capture the cel-shaded magic of the first title? Or, more importantly, has it brought enough guns? I can safely say it does and that it goes above and beyond the first game.
